I understand controller binding may not be implemented yet (I haven't looked too close) in LADSPA, but the software to do the DSP is pretty much what you get with a rack piece. One tickles the params on a normal FX unit via MIDI. > If you could automate a LADSPA plugin with midi this would imply that you > could feed midi INTO MusE and have this information control parts of MusE. Which is not a limitation of MusE, unless it's filtering out data. What it implies is that you can tweak params like delay feedback and wet/dry, what have you as part of your mixdown automation. One records the controller data in a sequencer track. The softsynths and the fx should behave like outboard gear. > How cool this ever would be this is not part of what MusE is capable of > (not the parts I know anyway), it might some day but this is pure sugar. > No, you're just not getting it. It's _not_ sugar. The soft synths and the fx should behave like outboard gear. All noise makers should be treated the same. The mixer does not need a custom automation API. Y'know why theres so many unassigned controller numbers? So you can use 'em for whatever you want. > Clearer? > You tell me. > I suppose you where thinking along the lines that MusE would handle all > such information as midi, internally also? I can control my FX rack from my keyboard, ergo I can record that thru/into MusE, ergo, it's automated because it'll play back and I can edit it. > In another mail you commented that there is only one type of controller (as > opposed to ones that change over time and ones that have states recorded > during the performance.) Well 2, but someone said 3. > This I agree with, all controllers should have the ability to be changed > over time. I mean, I don't want to sound like a snob, and lord knows I'm not on the cutting edge, but you can make a square wheel, but it's not gonna be popular.. Theres a few things about the editor, but as a package the program is working good lately. You gotta remember MIDI is actually a serial protocol, so if it ain't anything else, it's a list for sure. Continuous controller data is just a longer list. The frequency is the # of ticks per quarternote times the tempo. > /Robert > > > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.Net email is sponsored by the new InstallShield X. > From Windows to Linux, servers to mobile, InstallShield X is the one > installation-authoring solution that does it all.
