Yes, Dennis' request actually echos probably the number one complaint about MusE - the overwriting and resetting of controllers and sending of sysexes upon rewind. Not to worry, I am keenly aware of all this and will try to rectify the situation. Actually, always sending sysexes upon rewind seems wrong. It should probably only be done on song load or when specifically chosen 'reset instrument' by the user. I don't think I added that part way back, but I did add the part about sending initial controller values. I fired up MusE's much older cousin CW on another OS, and noted it asks to send sysexes when the song is loaded, with a "don't ask again", but I don't think it sends them upon rewind. Anyway I will try to add options for sending these sysexes upon rewind (if at all, likely NOT now) and/or initial controller values. Oh, and even if I take care of this we still have the controllers being reset by stored midi automation values. So, similar to our audio automation, we need a way to turn off the automation. Hence we need a midi automation button on the midi strips just like the audio strips. Geoff asked about this recently. And yes, that would logically include 'off, read, write, touch' modes. That'll be a bit more work so will likely come later than sooner. Hang in there folks. I'd like to take a small fun diversion ATM and see about those 'circular meters' surrounding knobs - so that we may have ultra compact mixers. Perhaps a 'Knob with Meter' class because I don't think we can make a separate meter widget which 'wraps around' an existing 'round knob within a square rectangle widget'. Thanks. Tim. |
