I recall that this is was not possible when I fixed those record modes. The reason is while recording, recorded notes (tagged with a loop counter value, if looping) go into a special list, and it is not until stop is pressed that the list is processed into actual playback notes. So there is nothing to playback yet, until stop is pressed. I think this is the reason Robert is not drawing the notes as he draws the parts while recording - a feature he added recently.
