Hi,
I'm using it on MD8.0 and it works fine. I just created special group
lirc for lirc users, added users to this group, changed rights to 660
for /dev/lirc, dev/lircd, /dev/lircm:

crw-rw-r--    1 root     lirc      61,   0 dub 12 21:21 /dev/lirc
srw-rw-r--    1 root     lirc            0 kv=EC 26 13:30 /dev/lircd=3D
prw-rw-r--    1 root     lirc            0 kv=EC 26 13:38 /dev/lircm|

And it works.
