Question about imon via ir core

Hi,

   I had my imon lcd working through lirc (0.8.6) with xbmc and the 
stock ubuntu 10.04 kernel (2.6.32).  I'm currently testing the 2.6.35 
kernel with core ir and trying desperately to get the direction pad on 
the remote to show with irw or in xbmc.   I've pulled down and built the 
latest copy of lirc from CVS as well as configured it for the 
linux-input-layer.  Upon running irw I see most buttons but I don't get 
the navigation buttons triggering (up, down, left, right).

Any advice?  I tried to enable the kernel debug messages but I'm not 
seeing any messages from ir core.
