Welp, spoke too soon. Started failing again even after recompile. After removing all the ubuntu modules for lirc etc, I did a source checkout pre-merge, and still had the problem. Command I did was: cvs -z8 -d:pserver:ano...@li...:/cvsroot/lirc co -D "Jun 20 2009" lirc This was revision 1.84, and I verified it loaded lirc_mceusb2. This again froze, same issue. After uninstalling the CVS, I then downloaded .8.4a from sourceforge, and compiled/rebooted. Now it's 100% stable this time (I waited before sending this note this time). It's been ~1hr of successful use, whereas I would only ever get about 10mins, if that. Once I have some time (been battling for a few days), I can try rolling forward versions if you have some recommendations of revisions to try, until I get another failure. Neal.
