Just an update. Reducing the acceleration in xfce has made the remote slightly more usable. But the left cursor button is still more sensitive than the right button. Maybe this is a fault with the remote? Finally one last issue. The left mouse click button on the remote issues a right click event, and the right mouse button on the remote does nothing.
