   Thanks for your reply.  I really appreciate the guidance.  I have used
Linux for years, but only as a file server and web server platform, so
this area is very new to me.

I did as you instructed in the grub.conf...

After a reboot I did not see any errors or complaints about that line.

However, the HID driver seems to still be "claiming" the IR receiver...
