Chris, I /think/ you are using the lircd in the wrong way. > lircd: lircd(hauppauge_dvb) ready You compiled lirc for the interface provided by the lirc driver named 'hauppauge_dvb'. > lircd: this device driver does not support the new LIRC interface > lircd: major number of /dev/input/event5 is 13 > lircd: LIRC major number is 61 You probably invoke lircd it with device /dev/input/event5, which is the kernel-provided interface (note that there's a keymap defined for Hauppauge remote in drivers/media/common/ir-keymaps.c of the kernel). I understand that to use this interface you need to compile lirc with device=devinput, NOT hauppauge_dvb (see e.g. http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_HVR_1100 or last FAQ here: http://linux.bytesex.org/v4l2/faq.html). This should explain the error message that you see in /var/log/lircd (I don't have it). Other than that, the rest is the same as you. I hoped someone on this list could explain first of all which is the *right way* to use the HVR1300 remote, /dev/input/eventX or /dev/lirc/0? Then we could start some more focused debugging... raf PS There's an HVR-1300 howto also (http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_HVR_1300) but the guy did not get the remote to work either :-( PPS I tend to top-post, but if this list netiquette is bottom-post I can easily switch.
