I've dug around the list archives, and haven't found anyone else with this problem, but I can't believe I'm the only one having it. I must be doing something hokey... I am running debian sarge with a 2.6.10 kernel, and compiled lirc-0.7.0. If I modprobe lirc_serial, it will load, but I am unable to get it to load on its own. Here is a what I get: myth:/etc# lsmod Module Size Used by myth:/etc# mode2 mode2: error opening /dev/lirc mode2: No such device myth:/etc# ls -l /dev/lirc crw-r--r-- 1 root root 61, 0 Feb 3 04:38 /dev/lirc myth:/etc# lsmod Module Size Used by lirc_dev 11404 0 myth:/etc# modprobe lirc_serial myth:/etc# mode2 myth:/etc# rmmod lirc_serial lirc_dev myth:/etc# lsmod Module Size Used by myth:/etc# cat > modutils/lirc alias char-major-61 lirc_serial myth:/etc# myth:/etc# update-modules myth:/etc# grep lirc modules.conf ### update-modules: start processing /etc/modutils/lirc alias char-major-61 lirc_serial ### update-modules: end processing /etc/modutils/lirc myth:/etc# mode2 mode2: error opening /dev/lirc mode2: No such device myth:/etc# lsmod Module Size Used by lirc_dev 11404 0 myth:/etc# I have noticed that there is another "modules.conf" type system in /lib/modules/2.6.10myth-via myth:/lib/modules/2.6.10myth-via# grep lirc * modules.alias:alias char-major-61-* lirc_dev modules.dep:/lib/modules/2.6.10myth-via/misc/lirc_dev.ko: modules.dep:/lib/modules/2.6.10myth-via/misc/lirc_serial.ko: /lib/modules/2.6.10myth-via/misc/lirc_dev.ko modules.symbols:alias symbol:lirc_unregister_plugin lirc_dev modules.symbols:alias symbol:lirc_register_plugin lirc_dev myth:/lib/modules/2.6.10myth-via# but when I change the char-major alias to lirc_serial, or add another alias, when I run depmod, the file reverts to this version. Any suggestions? Thanks. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail - Find what you need with new enhanced search. http://info.mail.yahoo.com/mail_250 |
