Hi, First off let me say thanks very much for the linux wacom driver, it is pretty great. Nearly worked out of the box with ubuntu 7.10 alpha 5, just a few minor edits to the xorg.conf required (removing the ISDV4 lines, adding "USB" "On" lines and a "pad" section) HOWEVER there is one minor bit of functionality I am missing from the windows driver. Under windows, the touch strips (StripLUp, StripLDn etc. in wacom driver lingo) perfectly emulate the mouse wheel. I can fake this in linux-wacom by mapping them to the up and down arrow keys ("core key up" etc.) but it is imperfect. Example: I use EAGLE from Cadsoft, it's a PCB CAD package. The mouse wheel can be used for zooming in and out of the drawing; under Windows I can also use the Intuos3 touch strips to zoom in and out. Under Linux I cannot, because it sends up and down arrow key-presses instead of mouse wheel events. In other programs, it would also be great to exactly emulate the mouse wheel, moving the scroll bar in a given window (rather than the cursor as happens when emulating up/down arrow keys). I tried re-mapping it, perhaps I merely have the syntax wrong. Should xsetwacom set pad striplup "core button 4" xsetwacom set pad stripldn "core button 5" work? Because it doesn't. But it doesn't complain, either, just renders the touch-strip ineffective. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. --Jim Morash |
