Hello mailing list, I have a few questions regarding my Wacom touchscreen. First my software and hardware details: Hardware: -------------- Lenovo x230t 056a:00e6 Touchscreen with additional Stylus Software: ................ Ubuntu Raring 13.04 up-to-date x86_64 Kernel 3.7.0rc7 (3.7.0-4-generic) xf86-input-wacom from git (01.12.2012) The ubuntu DE (unity) is supposed to support quite a bunch of gestures involving three to four fingers. As this did not work at all, I started investigating. I disabled gesture recognition in the driver itself with xsetwacom --set "..." gesture off and ran a test with "xinput test-xi2 11". I was pleased to see the last line of the initial output telling me "Max number of touches: 5". So I tried to touch with my fingers on the screen and see how the output changed. Here I noticed quite a few things: 1) 1-finger touch gives me events with "detail: 0" when moving and "detail: 1" when I release the finger from the screen 2) 2-finger touch gives me events from events with two different "detail" values. 3) If I release my two fingers from the screen and start touching again, the detail values increase steadily. So if I touch 10 times, I will be around detail: 20 or so. 4) If I touch with more than two fingers, the detail values only increase by two every time, so there is no visible difference in the output. So my question is: Where is the bug? Is it that my hardware just doesn't support multitouch with more than two fingers? So why does the driver report 5 touches as being possible? Am I lacking some up-to-date software to support multitouch or something else totally obvious? Please note that I also ran these tests also on a blank openbox session to rule out any effects that unity might have on the test. Any help, hints or debugging advice is greatly appreciated! I'm eager to do further testing and such, but I need a little guidance. Greetings, Maximilian |
