My new netgear FA411 10/100 ethernet pcmcia card arrived and it works fine in my linbook. This prompted me to update the hardware support list at: http://linux-7110.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/twiki/view/NetBook/SupportedHardware with a bit of organization. It is becoming an impressive list! In the mean time, my pcmcia cdrom drive is on the way (one of the many Targus on e-bay) so I expect (knock on wood) to report that my netbook has cdrom support soon! The only thing that doesn't work is pcmcia modems, apparently, which prompts this e-mail. I think these should work, but I've not been able to figure out how to get them to work. Only my ancient "Psion DACOM V34+Fax, Ethernet" works. I had one thought, which was perhaps signals to the LED interfere with the serial communications, since everything is off the timer at IRQ 26. Or somehow something goes amiss with setting the baudrate between netbook and modem. Still looking for hints! The bad news is that all this stuff that the netbook supports is getting rather old; the good news is that it is all fairly cheap on e-bay! B.D. |
