hi nexia et all, just read this discussion...trying to keep up. this new pLog group of us sounds like a good mix of minds ;) nexia, in your last message you really hit on exactly how I feel of a blog. I used nucleus (nucleuscms.org) for almost 3 years developed an assortment of CMS for myself and others...maybe 2 or 3 times did I create a site that resembled a typical blog. My intentions are on CMS, not usually online journals. Nucleus is great and many smart developers, but I got annoyed with there skin/template system. it had benefits...and go check it out if you are unfamiliar, but too troublesome..and they are stored in database and editable from admin area. Still, i didnt like it. i started building somwe web apps using SMARTY Template Engine and was just about to start to build my own CMS based on this... but before I got going, i had to check and see if any new systems were listed on hotscripts etcetera.... that is how I got here and now all my focus will be on using pLog. As nexia mentioned, a blog can be used for anything to showcase all types of content and mediums...words, pictures, music, video. These multimedia aspects are my concentration... But this discussion is also vital to the way i approach media handling with pLog. I agree with nexia on the css stuff. I used to use css as more of a core templating structure but these days, I only use it for certain design elements and leave most other stuff to my html templates. Sometimes I go back and forth with these methodologies but i prefer not to depend too heavily on stylesheets. also, nexia, funny you mention adromeda... i also was in discussions with him about making a Nucleus Andromeda Plugin... but decided against it in the end. So your from Post-NUke. that is interesting. I barely recall the days when I used to setup phpnuke and postnuke systems..thinking it was the greatest thing only to realize it was too messy :) anyway, babble_out. cheers- michael |
