To make a long story short ;-) : the solution is to upgrade or patch
your kernel. The bug is in video1394. The earliest stable release to
include the modification is 2.6.16. Since the patch is quite trivial you
may just change video1394.c instead of recompiling/installing a whole
new kernel. You will find the patch in the linux1394-devel archives.
