... in response to David Moore's posting of Thu, 21 Feb 2008 11:06:50 -0500 Scott Smith here with AVT... Several of us at AVT (in US and Germany both) subscribe to this libdc devel list, as you've seen from time to time when we can chime in and help. We appreciate and respect the good work you all do in this community, and are happy to know that many of you are using our cameras. [...and David, we met at the last Vision show in Boston a while back] We take pride at AVT in offering a broad range of machine vision cameras, and while we offer a number of vendor-specific advanced features, we are very much committed to compliance with IIDC/DCAM standards. In your message (pasted below my signature for reference) you speak in general terms of purported transient non-compliance, which we'd like the opportunity to hear specifics and to respond (whether to you personally, off-list, or to the libdc-1394 community, whichever is the appropriate etiquette for this forum). Not to put to fine a point on it, but your remark is a bit remiscent of the challenge "Answer yes or no, have you stopped beating your dog?" - it's hard to know how to respond, but readers/listeners might draw the conclusion that something inappropriate has transpired, without seeing any evidence to support the claim. If you would be so kind as to document specific observations, by camera model and firmware release version, we'd be very happy to investigate and respond. With some 70 models of camera (counting monochrome and color offerings) across 6 camera families, and tens of thousands of AVT cameras in use around the world, there are a lot of firmware releases out there, and we'd appreciate the opportunity to address any concerns you may have.
