This release features optimized drawing routines, various source code clean-ups and the level id in the highscore chart is now correct when a levelset was completely finished. Concerning the network game we have a lot of improvements like a new chatroom GUI, users are properly removed from server when connection is lost and establishing the direct connection for a match is more stable now. Also a bug was fixed that caused between 500% to 900% latency.

Although the number of packages per second increased to a playable level and the average latency is about 50-70ms for an internet game the latency between packages seems to have become extremely inhomogen as I had a peek of more than six seconds latency(!) when I tested it with JD from LinuxGaming. It is even less playable than before although it should have improved and I don't see why so if anyone has network experience please look at common/net.c and check if you can find the problem there. LAN games work fine as the latency is extremely low there. Michael Speck |
