I work for a visual inspection systems business, and now I work with ICC = profiles. For validating my result I took the Q-60(Kodak) target and scan it . I = calculated by your tool the ICC profile for the scanner, then for each = color I calculated the average RGB and then I converted them in Lab = values with your library. I expected to find the Lab values written in = the target-file R1******.Q60 but I found different values. I saw in the = report generated when I created the profile that you talk about a dE and = an error induced by the target itself. a.. How can you calculate these two errors and what are them?=20 b.. The value under the column "Got" have inside these two errors?=20 c.. Hi, I'm new to the list and lcms. I have created an icc-profile for a digital camera and would like to read some data from it. The mesh has 41 grid points and I'd like to get both the rgb- and cielab (or ciexyz)-triple for each grid point. Does anybody have a short source-code sample that sketches me how to do it? Stefan, I am not sure about why you need to do so. Taking the raw, uncooked data is as easy as an fread(), but then you have to repeat all the hard work lcms can do for you. Are you trying to apply this profile to an image? or just want to know the Lab/RGB values for given colors? If so, there are several command-line utilities that can make your life easier. Take a look on tifficc, jpegicc and icctrans utilities. If this is not the case, could please be more specific on what are you trying to do? Hello everybody we are working with a C# Wrapper and call the .dll. Loading and reading profiles works well. Creating transforms gives sometimes errors. If I try to do a transformation where I load the profile two times and use one as input profile and the other one as output profile, the following happens: with the profile "sRGB_v4_ICC_preference.icc" (from here: http://www.color.org/srgbprofiles.xalter#v4pref) I get the following error message: "Couldn't link the profiles, cmsERROR_NOT_SUITABLE" If I do the same with AdobeRGB1998.icc (from here: http://www.adobe.com/digitalimag/adobergb.html) it works without error, but I get a wrong 'R' (+0.3). If I use the 'internal' profile from cmsCreate_sRGBProfile() and do the same, then it works perfect, no errors and no wrong 'R'. How exactly do I need to understand the error message "Couldn't link the profiles", cmsERROR_NOT_SUITABLE" for the standard sRGB profile of color.org? Thanks a lot. |

Hi, I've tried the ICCtrans utility and it works fine to me: transicc.exe -i sRGB_v4_ICC_preference.icc -o sRGB_v4_ICC_preference.icc -t0 LittleCMS ColorSpace conversion calculator - 4.2 [LittleCMS 2.05] Enter values, 'q' to quit R? 12 G? 12 B? 12 R=12.1758 G=12.4984 B=12.3371 The error you are getting happens when you try to link profiles that are not compatible, for example an RGB input profile and a CMYK devicelink. But this seems not to be your case. I have used this profile extensively with no error, and what you report on adobeRGB makes me think maybe there is a memory corruption somewhere. A good strategy is to try to reproduce it by using transicc or any of the lcms utilities. If you cannot, then maybe the bug is in your side. Regards Marti. Hi, A couple of thoughts. Are you using absolut colorimetric intent? If not, you should. How different are the values? Slighly different may be due to profile error, but if the difference is huge, then the mistake is in the methodology. Again, double check the intent. The error induced by target is a estimation using chi-squared. It is an acotation of the maximum error that the target can induce. Never rises more than dE 1 or 2 and you can effetively ignore that.
