Hello Karen, what Windows version are you using? Windows XP, Vista or Win-7 ? XP has some audio control tab, where one can give audio codecs some different priorities. There you can raise the FhG one, such that LAME ACM isn't used by default anymore, solving the most of your problems. Later Windows versions are a bit more tricky, as Microsoft decided to remove that control tab, taking away that possibility. It would be nice, if you could tell us some of the latest programs, you installed. Maybe we can track down the bad one and ask them to not install LAME ACM anymore.
