I lost my whole index directoy, when I removed one library file WITH the option "do NOT delete ZIM" file. Whereas this text and action appear to be correct - the ZIM was not deleted - Kiwix nevertheless deleted the INDEX !

This should not happen.

Please

  • do not delete any file (neither "content" i.e. zim nor the corresponding index) if the user is removing a library file from the library with the expressed option "do not delete".

Perhaps this should require a better wording, and also perhaps an additional! user prompt ("Do you really want to delete the content and index files?")

Yes, this is not really a bug because the software acts correctly (and like indicated in the dialog box)... but the way it works is probably not what the user wants.

We probably simple offer two option:
Remove only the library entry (default)
Remove the library entry and all related files, ie. index+zim (with the checkbox)

    • summary: Severe problem: when removing a library with option "do not remove zim" file, it does delete the index (should not delete) --> Removing an entry from the library should not always remove the search index

ZIM indexes are now integrated to each ZIM. Ticket does not make sense anymore.
