Following-up on this topic, a "heads up" that I've reorganized the
configuration code so that modules are enabled by default based on
whether their dependencies are detected or not.  Users still have the
ability to explicitly decide which modules to build, this change just
affect whether they're enabled by default.  The pros: configuration
should Just Work no matter what's installed on a given platform.  The
cons: slightly slower configuration, since we test for every optional
dependency all the time.
