I have just checked-in the finishing touches on a Win32 build for K-3D 0.5. This build uses a 100% free-as-in-freedom toolchain (MinGW), and is the first K-3D Win32 build that I would consider stable enough for production. In fact, there are no known issues with this build, and with the exception of some missing third-party library dependencies it is fully functional, right down to the Move Tool and Rene's icons. The big breakthrough that made this build possible was letting-go of shared libraries, and just statically linking everything together. Sounds strange, and it makes for a long link at the end, but you can't argue with success. It occurred to me that the static build might be of use on OSX too, as a workaround for the various dynamic-link issues reported there, so I've separated the static build into its own configuration; I encourage anyone interested in doing a 0.5 build on OSX to try a clean build with K3D_STATIC_BUILD defined. I will post the new build instructions when the new Wiki goes live, which should be Real Soon Now.
