There are lots of fun shapes that will be available when we have Implicit Surfaces. Though Paul Bourke's supershapes belong to the parametric world, their natural forms look like surfaces you can get only with implicit shapes. You may have noticed they're being experimented with the RenderMan Blobby primitive (there are now screenshots and pictures in the gallery); they will then apply on more general plugins. Have a look at those sites for a preview: http://www.hyperfun.org/ http://lbarthe.free.fr/ http://pages.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/~jungle/software/JungleSP/index.html http://www.ugcs.caltech.edu/~andrei/seafood/ http://www.gang.umass.edu/software/cmclab/ Cheers, Romain > > http://telgarsky.com/cug/ > > > > I wonder if it could be used for supershape > > objects? > > > http://astronomy.swin.edu.au/~pbourke/surfaces/supershape3d/ > > > > (there is a LOT of other interesting stuff on > Paul's site.) > > Yes, these are good candidates for geometry-creation > plugins, which are arguably some of the easier > plugin types to write. > > You may be amused to hear that we already support > SuperCones, SuperCylinders, SuperEllipsoids, and > SuperTorii directly, although we don't use the > "Super" terminology. > > Cheers, > Tim > __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
