Hi All I note that crypt module support doesn't seem to be available in Jython -- crypt support is quite useful when (like myself) you're hacking stuff together for a prototype. The Jetty webserver (jetty.mortbay.org) has a java implementation of unix crypt, which is 'sympathetically' licensed (apache), so I've added it to my own jython distribution with a rather miniscule (3 line) jython-code wrapper. So far seems to be working well, so perhaps someone else will find it useful...? The java source (I've repackaged this as "misc", because if you are already running jython within jetty, you get a security violation if it has the "org.mortbay.util" package) and jython wrapper code are attached if anyone is interested.
