So it looks like you have taken jython on django further than I have
-- I'm swamped for the next ten days or so but after that I want to
take a more detailed look at what you have.  At that time I'll also
see if I can get Brian Rosner's and my change onto stringmap to make
things a little easier.

In the meantime, I've created a page on the Jython wiki listing the
problems with django on jython.  If you'd like to add to the list
please do.
