Matt G. pointed out an interesting problem in trimming an aircraft that has an integrator in the control system. Any ideas on how to get around this? There may be a couple of approaches: - Integrator windup prevention logic could be enabled during trimming, in order to effectively bypass integration. - The control surface positions could be set directly - rather than the control input commands - until the trimmed position is found and then drive the input commands until those surface deflections are found. The problem with trimming an aircraft such as the F-16 is that it's neutrally stable at best in flight. Jon |
