“He is an accomplished chef.” The French would not say, “C’est un cuisinier au fait” !!! Maybe, he would say “C’est un cuisinier accompli” He would rather say "C’est un grand cuisinier" or “C’est un grand chef”. Meaning "parfait" (perfect), "accompli" is rarely used nowadays Meaning 'finished', "accompli" is still used in locutions as "devoir accompli", "fait accompli" Pas facile ;) Jacques ----- Original Message ----- From: jbe...@fa... "à jour" would also be convenient. "accompli", "mis au jour" are not at all correct in the context. Amicalement Jacques ----- Original Message ----- From: jbe...@fa... To: jor...@li... Of course, “mis au jour” might be more technically accurate. John Beach From: Graham Harrison Sent: Monday, October 31, 2011 6:14 AM To: jor...@li... Seems I discovered this (stumbled on it) in the time between when the first message was written and when all you good people responded. Who'd have guessed? I wonder why this extra reference came about? It may just be me getting used to the new versions, but it seems that a number of basic operations are a lot more complicated in now version 3.x than they were in 2.4. Didn't have to mess with all those messages. In answer to Panos' comment on my 70 stops in v 2.4, I am currently chugging right along with 117 stops, 52 pistons, 2 swells, a Crescendo as well as indicator lights and a fully operational SAMS combination action, and 2.4 doesn't appear to be breaking a sweat. I am only duplicating my current organ in 3.14 because 2.4 cannot apparently be used with the newer versions of Java. If some day I must convert to these later Java versions on my organ computer, I will than not be left with an obsolete jOrgan system. As long as techies continually feel the need to 'improve' everything (remember Vista?) we will have to either somehow preserve the software that works for us or revise it to be compatable with these 'improvements'. For me, I will continue to use XP (so does my employer and many other corporations I have found out) even though I am now running it on an i7 quad core. I will keep the 3.14 jOrgan on my laptop since it is loaded with Java rel6. If that incredibly easy method of boot-up in 3.14 really gets to me, I may well load up the Java rel6 and port over the 3.14 to the i7. Is my 2.4 an 'ancient' method of creating a theater organ? Not really, some people actually still use pipes made in the 1920's. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Message: 1 Date: Sun, 30 Oct 2011 22:32:14 -0000 From: "Graham Harrison" <fg....@vi...> Subject: Re: [jOrgan-user] v3.14 Interfacing Problems-Out of Options-What's WithThis Thing???? To: <jor...@li...> Message-ID: <680AAE0C5A194BA8BBF65106EF9CC031@Core2Quad> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Les It used to be that you only needed to reference Stops to a "Console", but a recent innovation in jOrgan is that you have to have Stops referenced to both a "Console" AND a "Connector". If you don't have the Connector reference, nothing happens when you click on the Record icon. Is this the problem?
