Each script is composed by the PDB code, the script type and the process ID to create a unique name: 1deh-default-12345.spt Timestamps have the problem that you need them very fine grained to avoid collisions between two users which request within the same second. Process IDs easily avoid that. And because the script files are only kept for some time it is no problem that process IDs only have 5 digits and restart at '1' after the limit is reached.
