I am afraid, I can't help you with your problem (not an expert on the
BURS part of the opt-compiler), but the following might further
encourage the actual experts to have a look:

You seem to have stumbled upon another manifestation of issue RVM-916
<http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/RVM-916>. So helping you out would in
all likelihood address issue RVM-916 as well.
