Hello, Today, after hearing about the release of JFS 1.0.0, I decided to give it a try. So, I followed the instructions on how to convert an ext2 filesystem to JFS, available at: http://oss.software.ibm.com/developer/opensource/jfs/project/pub/jfsroot.html , and I had an "interesting" problem, so I hope you guys can help me with it. :) Up to section 3.2 of the document (Create the JFS Filesystem), no problems at all. My environment is as follows: - /dev/hda2 : current root partition (ext2) - /dev/hdc1 : JFS partition on a different HD (I'll boot from this HD once the process is complete) - /tmp/hdimg: directory with the image that I'll transfer to /dev/hdc1 I created the JFS filesystem with 'mkfs -t jfs /dev/hdc1', and all went well. I could also mount the JFS partition with 'mount -t jfs -w /dev/hdc1 /mnt/hdc1' without problems, and then mount gives the following output: /dev/hda2 on / type ext2 (rw) none on /proc type proc (rw) none on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,mode=0622) /dev/hdc1 on /mnt/hdc1 type jfs (rw) However, when I try to copy files from /tmp/hdimg to /mnt/hdc1 , the process hangs in D state. # cp -a /tmp/imghd/* /mnt/hdc1 [prompt never comes back] [Through another shell, I can check that ...] # ps ax | grep cp 476 ttyS0 D 0:00 cp -a /tmp/nl4000_img/System.map (...) # Any clues / suggestions?? Any help would be highly appreciated. Later, Ivan |
