This is the situation. We plan to use jetty to build simple e-commerce solution. The idea is to host many e-stores on one server. This can be achived in two ways 1. Use one application and one database for all stores. 2. Use one webbapp and one database /firebird/ per store. approach 1 has one bih plus - easy maintinance and several coins - large databases, additional key on shop_id.. if system is compromised or crashes all shops go down and mainly - almost impossible support for different domain names. approach 2 is heavy on conenctions to server, large dispace requirements and so on. We plan basic e-shop only without any bells and whistles. We assume that there will not be heavy load per shop - let's say 200 customers/24hours. We plan to use a monster on this - Dual Xeon with at least 16GB Ram and SCSI Raid. How many webbapps can jetty support? has it been tested in simmilar enviroment? Regards Niki |
