Thanks! Like I said, it's not a huge deal. I didn't think I needed to add this to my path, though it did make me worry about overlong classpaths (which might occur not from $JAVA_HOME/lib, but say from valid application libs being added). Here's my version info: Emacs : GNU Emacs 23.1.1 (i386-mingw-nt6.1.7600) of 2009-07-29 on SOFT-MJASON Package: JDE version 2.4.0.1 Required packages: cedet-1.0beta3 And from javac -version: javac 1.6.0_18 Again, Beanshell process spawning doesn't always fail for me. In fact, in my real use case (just app directories on the classpath), it works fine. It was just when I added $JAVA_HOME/lib. Subject: Re: [jdee-users] Spawning child process: exec format error with long classpath You shouldn't need to add that path to the JVM, it gets it by default. There's something else going on here that's more related to the subprocess creation. It's probably something to to do with the arguments passed to `call-process' or something. Is this cygwin emacs or GNU? Version? JDEE version? JVM version? On Mar 30, 2010, at 3:11 PM, David Ventimiglia wrote: Hi! I added $JAVA_HOME/lib to the jde-global-classpath variable, and now when I do something that starts the Beanshell, I get this error: Spawning child process: exec format error I suspect it's a result of the very long classpath that's constructed in this case. It's not a huge deal, but is there a way around this? This is on Windows, btw. Thanks!
