I know this is a little soon, but as soon as I got the latest driver I had problems removing the module (keyboard not responding). As soon I had restarted I had a Kernel OOPS in ipw2100_tw or something like that as well as a Kernel Panic, so I couldn't get the log of the actual trace when my computer froze. I also found this in my kernel logs: Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile Oops: 0000 [#1] Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile PREEMPT Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile CPU: 0 Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile EIP: 0060:[<c035e42a>] Tainted: PF Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile EFLAGS: 00010212 (2.6.5) Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile EIP is at rtnetlink_fill_ifinfo+0x2da/0x4c0 Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile eax: 2796e1bc ebx: 00000000 ecx: 00000f38 edx: c74b 6048 Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile esi: df3ca800 edi: 00000004 ebp: dfa01e04 esp: dfa0 1dd0 Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile ds: 007b es: 007b ss: 0068 Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile Process dhcpcd (pid: 11519, threadinfo=dfa00000 task=c6e1 e8a0) Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile Stack: ca54cd80 00000005 00000004 df3ca838 00000f80 00000 000 c0350c38 00000f38 Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile c74b6000 000f001e ca54cd80 ffffffff 00000011 dfa01e34 c03 5e8e9 ca54cd80 Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile df3ca800 00000011 00000000 00000000 ffffffff df3ca800 c04 80a60 df3ca800 Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile Call Trace: Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile [<c0350c38>] alloc_skb+0x48/0xf0 Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile [<c035e8e9>] rtmsg_ifinfo+0x59/0xd0 Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile [<c035edf5>] rtnetlink_event+0x35/0x6c Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile [<c0127a6d>] notifier_call_chain+0x2d/0x50 Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile [<c035730e>] netdev_wait_allrefs+0xce/0x120 Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile [<c035746d>] netdev_run_todo+0x10d/0x210 Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile [<c01061df>] __down_failed+0xb/0x14 Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile [<c0390865>] devinet_ioctl+0x285/0x640 Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile [<c0392fd0>] inet_ioctl+0xc0/0x110 Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile [<c03a6743>] packet_ioctl+0x173/0x1b0q Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile [<c01277f5>] sys_rt_sigaction+0xa5/0x110 Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile [<c034d8d5>] sock_ioctl+0xf5/0x2c0 Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile [<c016511d>] sys_ioctl+0x11d/0x2a0 Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile [<c01071db>] syscall_call+0x7/0xb Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile Apr 14 19:17:04 navin-mobile Code: 8b 40 0c 31 db ba ff ff ff ff 89 d1 83 c0 08 89 c7 89 45 dc Actually before, I was getting kernel oopses every single time I tried to use WEP in 0.40-pre2 and 0.40-pre1; however, these were in the hostap driver. This is probably due to my use of hostap cvs source(need the advanced WPA features for a class project with a prism card). I've also still have had "Packet payload too large" errors on regular basis when using my school's wireless network. Here is the kernel oops I get from hostap: Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile Oops: 0000 [#1] Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile PREEMPT Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile CPU: 0 Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile EIP: 0060:[<e19dd8e3>] Tainted: PF Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile EFLAGS: 00210286 (2.6.5) Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile EIP is at prism2_wep_get_key+0x13/0x50 [hostap_crypt_wep] Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile eax: 00000000 ebx: d0623f50 ecx: e19de6c0 edx: def0 3ac0 Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile esi: ffffffff edi: d8d9ba20 ebp: d0623e8c esp: d062 3e84 Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile ds: 007b es: 007b ss: 0068 Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile Process iwconfig (pid: 8807, threadinfo=d0622000 task=d0c 8d2e0) Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile Stack: ffffffff e1892a64 d0623eb0 e188e9b7 d8d9ba20 c0144 cc4 00200246 00000000 Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile df0ce800 00008b2b d8d9bd20 d0623f2c c035fb16 df0cea20 d06 23f1c d0623f50 Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile d8d9bd20 d020c400 40028624 d0cc1080 d0623f04 c0145022 d0c c1080 d063fa40 Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile Call Trace: Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile [<e188e9b7>] ieee80211_wx_get_encode+0x117/0x120 [ipw2100 ] Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile [<c0144cc4>] do_no_page+0x1b4/0x320 Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile [<c035fb16>] wireless_process_ioctl+0x276/0x820 Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile [<c0145022>] handle_mm_fault+0xe2/0x180 Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile [<e188c720>] ipw2100_wx_get_encode+0x0/0x20 [ipw2100] Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile [<c0356dd9>] dev_ioctl+0x289/0x390 Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile [<c034da6f>] sock_ioctl+0x28f/0x2c0 Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile [<c016511d>] sys_ioctl+0x11d/0x2a0 Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile [<c01071db>] syscall_call+0x7/0xb Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile Apr 13 21:53:35 navin-mobile Code: 0f b6 50 12 39 55 0c 7c 26 89 d1 8d 70 04 c1 e9 02 f3 a5 f6 Before 0.40, my transfers were reasonably okay.
