DKMS is Dynamic Kernel Module Support. I'm not an expert but from my limited understanding it is a way to put in kernel modules without having to recompile for every new kernel update. This is very convenient for what you are doing because the packages provided by Dell (http://linux.dell.com/files/openipmi) will insert the required linux kernel modules for IPMI. On a brand new box that I am wanting to control the IPMI BMC card locally I generally do the following steps (this is for a RedHat machine -you may have to install from source for your SLES machine): 1. Download and untar the appropriate file from http://linux.dell.com/files/openipmi 2. Run install.sh 3. Download and install OpenIPMI rpm downloaded from sourceforge - this is somewhat redundant with the first two steps, but it does add a couple scripts not included with the package provided by Dell. 4. install ipmitool rpm downloaded from sourceforge 5. "ipmitool mc info" to make sure it works. Good luck. *********************** Nathan Day SoftLayer.com - dedicated servers with IPMI *********************** -----Original Message----- From: ipm...@li...
