Hello, I had done some tests with ipmitool where I setup an environment with one manager server (Dell poweredge 2850) and two servers (Dell poweredge 1850) running Sarge Debian Kernel 2.6.11 and Fedora Core 3 2.6.9. One test that I did, I shutdown the eth0 (ifconfig eth0 down) on both servers and from the manager server I ran the ipmitool to power off one of them. I got this error message : ~# ipmitool -P root -U password -H 192.135.1.10 chassis power off Error: Unable to establish LAN session Unable to set Chassis Power Control to Down/Off After that, I reactive the eth0 by doing ifconfig eth0 up and ipmitool was able to power off the server. ~# ipmitool -P root -U password -H 192.135.1.10 chassis power off Chassis Power Control: Down/Off By the way, the same test works very well on a Sarge Debian Kernel 2.4. Ipmitool has some communication issues with kernel 2.6 when doing a ifconfig eth0 down. Regards, Maxime |
