Hi Jyotirmoy, > I edited the source code of the Hello World program in Yudit and=20 > replaced "Hello World" with some Devanagari text. Now I run the=20 Replacing the "Hello World" with devanagari will not work straightaway.=20 It's a multi-step process for displaying a localized text in you app. > program; but the Devanagari text doesn't come up. I've one OpenType=20 > Hindi font (Raghu) installed in my machine. But how do I=20 > inform Pango to=20 > pick up this font for Hindi? Is there some configuration file=20 > for Pango? > What are the steps that I need to do so that I can use=20 > Indian language=20 > texts in Gtk widgets like utton, label etc? You need to -=20 1) Internationalize the "Hello World" application (i.e. mark the string for translation) 2) Generate a file containing the translatable string/s 3) Translate the string/s 4) Install the binary and finally run the application in the apt locale. A simple way is to develop your application using the 'glade' interface designer. Glade allows creation of apps that are inherently internationalized apps.
