Hi, Now is the time for modifying the Unicode for Indic. The problem is not just about adding the Rupee symbol. There are so many other problems to be solved. As the modifications is taking momentum, lets add the characters like " ? etc. which are not there in the Indic (I know about Devnagari. please feel free to add other languages). Also, there are characters like "nukta" in combination of other characters which is mostly useless. As of now, really speaking, we can not have a document that has characters like " ? etc. which is fully Indic language compliant. There will always be that Roman script characters coming in. When you start typing such document, keyboard switching between Devanagari and Roman is absolute pain. So, lets start thinking and implementing of adding all those characters also and removal of the unused junk characters. Comments most welcome.!! (Adding this mail in other Marathi groups also to trigger further discussions) Best regards, -Sudhanwa (ps: Top posting is knowingly done) On Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 2:19 PM, G Karunakar <ind...@gm...> wrote: > On Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 10:55 AM, Naveen Kumar <na...@gm...> wrote: >> ----- Forwarded Message ----- >> From: "Pravin Satpute" <psa...@re...> >> Subject: [Lohit-devel-list] Added New Indian Rupee symbol — INR to Lohit >> Devanagari >> >> Dear All, >> >> Added New Indian Rupee symbol — INR to Lohit Devanagari, really >> enjoyed designing a symbol after long time :) >> It took me almost 3 hrs, finally some suggestion and review from parag >> and naveen finalized this one. >> >> Still no valid Unicode Value for it, but just added as a reference >> on U+E000 (private user area block) >> Review and comments are welcome !! >> >> wrote blog as well for same >> http://pravin-s.blogspot.com/2010/07/added-new-indian-rupee-symbol-inr-to.html >> > > To think of a key assignment in keymap also, easy option perhaps to > put it on '4' ($) key. > > Karunakar > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > This SF.net email is sponsored by Sprint > What will you do first with EVO, the first 4G phone? > Visit sprint.com/first -- http://p.sf.net/sfu/sprint-com-first > _______________________________________________ > IndLinux-group mailing list > Ind...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/indlinux-group > -- ~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~! www.sudhanwa.com |
