While it hasn't been done with ICU before, have you considered using gcc or some other compiler on as/400? If you don't have any compiler, you're out of luck (that would seem odd, since I wouldn't know how you would use ICU4C). What compiler are you using for your applications? Have you considered using that one? Whatever the case is, you will have to do some work porting ICU to this platform. Some tests still fail on this platform. Some of them aren't serious test failures. Some of them may be serious depending what tests failed. It would be nice if you submitted any patches for as/400 to work with your compiler. That way it will be easier for you and others to use future versions of ICU. If you're compiling ICU 2.0. Be sure to download the latest patch for as/400 from the download page. ICU 2.1 will be released in a few weeks. If you want to help us port ICU 2.1 to the as/400 (iSeries) platform, that would help us out a lot.
