I wasn't using a microSD card. I found that another guy was having a similar problem. http://gumstix.8.n6.nabble.com/Console-issue-with-Overo-Sand-Tobi-td4533278.html So i looked at how to create a bootable imcroSD card for overo http://gumstix.org/create-a-bootable-microsd-card.html Went with the Linaro Unfortunately the ubuntu on my laptop doesn't recognize an sd-card lspci | grep Card yields nothing. So what do i do?
