I'd still would like to hear from you guys, but moving forward I've found two chips that may serve as 1GHz interface to an overo. SMSC's LAN7500 (http://www.smsc.com/index.php?tid=292&pid=258&cid=&tab=3) and SiliconLab's CP2200/1 (http://www.silabs.com/products/interface/ethernetcontrollers/Pages/default.aspx) LAN7500 is a USB to Ethernet (10/100/1000) with existing linux support (not sure how good) which has been used with an OMAP4460 at least (http://www.directinsight.co.uk/products/swiftmodule/SwiftModule-omap-4460.html or http://atlantis.com.ua/rpstr/catalog/VAR-SOM-OM44_v0.91_datasheet_v1.0.pdf). This seems a good choice, though going via USB to get Ethernet sounds a bit counterintuitive (or doesn't?). CP2200/1 has a parallel interface, with address and data lines. Though even after reading the datasheet I'm not sure if it can do 100/1000 or if it's just 10 and "compatible with 100/1000" means it can be plugged into a high speed network, but just work at 10 Mbps. any other candidates? comments? thanks!
