Not just the latest boards but older boards from 2009 won't run just any old kernel build (well at least not any from late August). Have had similar troubles back with 2.6.33 and 2.6.34. Wondering if its a slight timing change in uboot or x-loader (some timer or something that affects power on times) and the smc chip isn't powered up/fully powered up when the kernel loads ? We're waiting to see what the new Dm37xx or ? boards are like before buying any more gumstix boards . Were hoping they'd be available by now. Back to working on fpgas in a month or so , have to build a new fpga remote lab for students to use. Using the atlys boards from digilentinc.com (academic pricing and free software(and free donated hardware) from xilinx helps) Biggest part of the work is writing tutorials and assignments - at least it helps me remember vhdl and verilog.
