That is a common hardware problem :o( Contact Gumstix for an RMA# Bill "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." - George Orwell -----Original Message----- From: Daniel Beer [mailto:dl...@gm...] Sent: Wednesday, August 03, 2011 10:52 PM To: gum...@li... Subject: [Gumstix-users] Overo Tide -- Ethernet and USB not working Hi all, I've recently ordered an Overo Tide and a Chestnut43 board. I built the OpenEmbedded omap3-console-image as described in the instructions on the Developer Center website. My OpenEmbedded repository is at commit d33b2275f9c345035d623b1a86ea56326567ddf3 (overo-2011.03 branch). After booting the board, I found that neither the Ethernet nor the USB appear to work. U-Boot reports the following during boot: Net: smc911x: Invalid chip endian 0xff40ff40 When I plug a device into the USB port, nothing happens at all -- no messages from the kernel. lsusb shows the root hub, but nothing else. The label on top of the Tide board reads: W/O 27834 11-25 GS3503T-R2889 INN W/O# 70445 I've also tried the pre-built image from the website and building a minimal system from the appropriate git repositories for U-Boot and Linux, with the same results. Is this a hardware fault? Let me know if there's any further information I can provide. I've included a full boot log below. - Daniel ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Texas Instruments X-Loader 1.4.4ss (Aug 2 2011 - 14:36:57) No NAND detected OMAP3530-GP ES3.1 Board revision: 1 Reading boot sector Loading u-boot.bin from mmc U-Boot 2010.12 (Aug 04 2011 - 11:47:07) OMAP3530-GP ES3.1, CPU-OPP2, L3-165MHz, Max CPU Clock 720 mHz Gumstix Overo board + LPDDR/NAND I2C: ready DRAM: 512 MiB NAND: nand_get_flash_type: unknown NAND device: Manufacturer ID: 0x40, Chip ID: 0x40 0 MiB MMC: OMAP SD/MMC: 0 *** Warning - readenv() failed, using default environment In: serial Out: serial Err: serial Board revision: 1 Direct connection on mmc2 No EEPROM on expansion board Die ID #633a0004000000000403951c08001012 Net: smc911x: Invalid chip endian 0xff40ff40 No ethernet found.
