Hi Bill, thank you for your answer, that is exactly it, I used Eclipse because it is written in the manual that REMOTE SYSTEM EXPLORER E 3.1.2.... allows connection to the console port of Gumstix without needing a terminal emulator program such as Kermit or TeraTerm. If there is anybody who is familiar with the Eclipse version on Gumstix PLEASE HELP .))= o.O having a crisis here -Jenna -----Original Message----- From: William Pretty Security Inc [mailto:bil...@xp...] Sent: Donnerstag, 28. I don't use Eclipse for development, so I can't be of much help there :( However. Have you tried to connect to the Tobi with a "simple" serial program ?? Something like Smartterm or what ever works with Windows 7 ? I assume you are using Windows 7 or Vista ?? Hi Bill! >From the given manual online--> http://wiki.gumstix.org/index.php?title=Eclipse_on_Gumstix_for_new_users, I just came this far: Connection Type: Serial Port: <port to which your Gumstix is connected> Baud Rate: 115200 --I 9600 similar to my Connect Gumstix Device through USB Data Bits: 8 Stop Bits: 1 Parity: none Flow Control: none Timeout: 5 Applied power to my Gumstix expansion board(Tobi) and inputted jack on the Gumstick.(But in converse order) After that I have seen that my Port is COM5 so changed the settings to COM5(Port) and tried to reconnect. (Like in the manual USB-COM can`t be detected) Usually text must appear in this window....but nothing is appears? Can you help me out here? I would be grateful for any help!? Thank you all in beforehand. Jenna Parekkattil -----Original Message----- From: William Pretty Security Inc [mailto:bil...@xp...] Sent: Donnerstag, 28. Hi Jenna; You can, as the other poster said, watch and to some extent control the boot process of a Gumstix from any PC that can run a serial communications program such as SmartTerm. The Gumstix should boot all by itself, "out of the box". In order to write and compile code, you need either a cross-compiler on your PC or a Gumstix image that contains the GCC compiler and other components ... Hope this helps :o) Bill "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." - George Orwell -----Original Message----- From: Parekkattil, Jenna [mailto:jen...@sa...] Sent: Thursday, July 28, 2011 4:43 AM To: General mailing list for gumstix users.
