Hi Nick and everyone, So I have decided to try to follow the guide that you directed me to, (http://wiki.gumstix.org/index.php?title=Installing_Ubuntu_10.04_on_Gumstix_Overo) and it seemed to be booting as it should, until it reached: init: ureadahead main process (50) terminated with status 5 init: procps main process (78) terminated with status 255 and decided that it would stop booting. Basically, it just hangs there, with these words on screen. Anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks, Sean Date: Tue, 29 Mar 2011 15:09:28 -0700 From: nwn...@gm... To: gum...@li... Subject: Re: [Gumstix-users] Ubuntu on Gumstix Hi Sean, How did you install ubuntu on the gumstix? Did you follow the guide here. If you set it up to install ssh and allow for a serial console as part of the install then you can use the serial port on the gumstix com board or ssh over network to connect to it. The guide creates a minimal install without a GUI, but I think you can configure rootstock to install gnome-desktop if you wanted. I hope this helps, Nick On Tue, Mar 29, 2011 at 10:29 AM, Sean Po <s....@li...> wrote: Hi all, I have been trying to get Ubuntu on my gumstix for quite some time now, and every time I try it, I get stuck with the gumstix starting GDM. The boot literally just stops there. I have a feeling that the Gumstix is waiting for me to log in using GDM, but I don't know how I will do that on the Gumstix. Anyone know a way around this problem?
