On the 2 Tobi boards I have, those 3 large pads on the back are populated with a coin cell slot. It's a little funny that the photos don't show it populated. I wonder if they are consistent in their production. The inner pad is -, and the outer two are +. As far as setting the date, I had no trouble following the directions on that site and getting correct results. You said the date "jumped" for you. Did that happen immediately after you set it, when you read it back? Or just randomly after being up for some time? Or after a power cycle?
