Well I might be able to shed a little light for you. Just so you know the HDMI port only does the digital signal its more like a DVI. You will also need to set your uboot variables for your monitor. When you connect through the console port are you using kermit like its suggested? Giving kermit a shot may help, though not sure. Or its at least worth trying it out, I have been seeing some people on here lately that are complaining about garbage like you are and I have yet to see one person say they were trying it with kermit and doing it in the manner thats on the setup page. Other suggestions I will leave for the others as thats the best I can think of, I am a beginner myself.
