Hello all this is a pre warning I am a newbie to all this and thinking most of this is a user error and not my hardware. I own a overo fire and summit board With that said I am having major issues with my HDMI port on my summit board. I first started trying to hook it up to a LCD HDTV with HDMI in. Of course stock settings did not give me anything on my screen. So from there I tried to read about changing settings. I have tried the dvimode in uboot to change the settings. Then after a few days of trying and getting no responses on how to correctly setup my TV I figured I would just buy a new monitor that had DVI in. I went back to the stock settings which is suppose to work out of the box and again nothing on the monitor with stock settings or any of the other allowable settings I could find. I have tried about every -16 setting as well as the -24 settings, tried changing the hertz and nothing. I have even changed the settings in the kernel using bitbake and menuconfig. I have also gone down to older kernels where the DSS2 patches where in the build folder. Dmesg does not even show that its seeing anything plugged in when I try and plug in the monitor or TV. My tv is a philips 42” which happilly takes my DVI from the computer to the HDMI of the tv and can display anything that the computer asks it to. For me though I have been using a XGA setting as this gives the best picture on this display. I tried matching those setting onto the gumstix as well. For as to why the monitor does not work I have no clue as its a standard Dell LCD monitor with DVI and HDMI in plugs only. It works with any other computer I plug into it. For this can someone please let me know what I am missing or if someone wants to really make my day give me a link to the proper way to achieve this or a step by step. I know thats asking a ton but I am thinking this port is dead. Now with my other things I am able to connect to a WIFI hotspot in managed mode, but it will not stay connected very long and if I try and SSH in to the fire it boots the connection off on the fire. What can I look for that would be causing it to disconnect when trying to SSH in? I am thinking the time part is because its not renewing after a certain point. I have removed NetworkManager and am connecting manually. Though there also seems to be occasionally errors from dhclient and WatchDog. I can post any info needed to help further diagnose this but did not want to fill the email with the reports as they have been posted with no one replying. I am at a total loss here with these two things, everything else I so have been able to get working either good enough or perfectly for my project. If I can get the TV to work it would be ideal for me, Though can settle for the monitor, really hoping its me for this and not a dead port. I also realize these questions have been asked and I promise I have read and tried everything listed as well as things listed outside of this site. Is there a particular image I should be trying to build or specific drivers only or a specific kernel or? Or is there a downloadable prebuilt version that is a more “work out of the box” setup for the overo fire? Thanks a million for any help or incite! -- View this message in context: http://old.nabble.com/NEWBIE%3A-No-HDMI-on-summit-fire-and-some-other-questions-tp28699821p28699821.html Sent from the Gumstix mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |
