The first thing I'd run on your system is a bootable CD with memtest86 on it. Let it run overnight, and if it's clean in the morning, bad memory's not your issue. Segfaults in standard, well-tested applications such as BASH or GCC are often due to a failing system component, usually memory. -A. |
