I have some questions for this is my first time working with GPIO's as well as the Gumstix. I see that there are 4 LED's that can be used on the breakout-vx board. (Down by the RJ45) I also know that these 4 LED's go over to the pin holes right next to them with the matching color. I have been playing around with this for a couple days now and I think I know how to get these LEDs to light up, correct me if I'm wrong. The way I got them to work is by connecting a wire from a pin hole to a GND point and the LED would light up. I hope that is the way they are supposed to work. Onto my question, I want to hook 2 of these up to a GPIO and have one of them turn on when a switch it pushed. Is this possible to do? If so would I need to put in a resistor to limit the current to the GPIO? Can someone please explain in detail how I would wire this up if it can be done. Question 2: I also want to install a external switch to a GPIO so that when it is pressed the program will perform a task that is addressed with that GPIO. How would I go about doing this as far as wiring it up. I have read stuff about using a zener diode and resistors. Not sure what I really need to do for this to work. Detailed steps would be great. As far as the programing goes for this i'm not doing that, a programmer is writing the program for the gumstix. I'm just working on the wiring of the switches and LEDs. Any help would be great and thanks again. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/First-time-using-Breakout-vx-with-Verdex-Pro-XL6P-tp21839925p21839925.html Sent from the Gumstix mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |
