[Gumstix-users] "Probably the AVR MCU is in the RESET state."

I have this message come up after I try to run "uisp":

"Probably the AVR MCU is in the RESET state. Check it out and run me again."

What does this mean? I searched online for an answer, and what I found out
that the problem is related to the robostix wanting a external clock.  How
do i check to see if the robostix is in external clock mode?  How do I fix
this problem?  Any help would be much appreciated.  Thank you.
